A new cross-sector study is documenting psychological well-being, moral injury, perpetration, and attrition across every kind of animal-connected work: shelter and rescue, veterinary medicine, animal control, farm animal and equine rescue, laboratory and research, wildlife and conservation, zoo and aquarium, animal search-and-rescue and k-9, companion animal services, pet cremation and aftercare, investigation and legal advocacy and media, breeding, and food systems. If you currently work or volunteer (or have in the past) in a field where animals are a central aspect of your work, your experience belongs in this research.

WHO CAN TAKE PART

Anyone who works or has worked in an animal-related field, paid or volunteer, in any sector and any country that can complete a survey in English.

WHAT IT INVOLVES

One anonymous online survey, about 15-25 minutes. No identifying information required.

WHY IT MATTERS

The results shape how organizations are asked to change — and what support the field can demand. Findings will contribute to resource development to support the mental health and well-being of individuals working with animals in various sectors.
